Our CSA season begins in June, but it's never too early to sign up! (And here's a printable sign-up sheet.) If you're not familiar with how our CSA plan works, here it is:

A simple alternative food system: First, you purchase a share for the season, which runs from mid-June to mid-October. Then, once a week, you pick up a plentiful and varied selection of fresh produce, either directly on the Farm, or at a convenient location near you!

Organic quality: Your vegetables are hand-grown in garden beds with a minimum of tillage. The Farm is certified organic (OCPP). We use no synthetic chemicals and no genetically modified organisms. All seed is untreated, and we grow our own seedlings for transplants (eg: tomatoes, peppers). We fertilize with green manure and compost made on-farm. We use low pressure drip irrigation only as needed in dry weather. We irrigate and wash veggies with regularly tested well water that we also drink. We maintain detailed production and marketing records (required for certification). Above all, we enjoy farming the "old fashioned" way, feet on the ground, close to the earth!!

Healthy selection: We grow over 30 different crops, with several varieties of each. Popular basics include tomatoes, carrots, corn, lettuce, potatoes, and beans. We also grow unusual and specialty items, like heirloom tomatoes, tomatillos, and mesclun. Also, many fresh herbs, including rosemary and basil, and cut flowers.

Consistent supply: We select early, mid- and late-maturing varieties and we plant often to ensure good quantity, quality and selection throughout the season. We also grow different varieties of each crop to anticipate varying weather conditions (and because it's lots more fun than growing all one thing!).

Convenient pick-up: You can collect your weekly share either directly from the Farm (located between Lindsay and Bobcaygeon), from Lindsay Farmers' Market, or from another location near you. Pick-up locations are worked out with all members, and announced in the Spring.

Fair price: The price our most popular Single Share $440 (feeds 1-2 people) for an 18-week season. The Family Share is $640 and feeds 2-4.

Farming together - find out more! This is community-supported agriculture (CSA!), a simple and effective "new" approach to environmentally-sound farming and food security. By purchasing your share in advance, and picking up your weekly harvest, you become an active participant in building a sustainable, reliable farming system. Partnering with your farmer helps to ensure your own supply of tasty, healthy food from year to year, while supporting your local economy, and contributing to a healthier environment. You can find out more about CSA in our FAQ pages.

CSA Update

It's 2008 and the new farming year is underway! Sign-ups for 2008 are way ahead of any previous year, with both renewals and new members already in. Share prices have been increased for this season (the first increase since we began four years ago). The season will once again be 18 weeks, beginning around mid-June. This year, you're also encourage to visit the farm at least once, and a new farmwork program is being considered, where you can do some veggie gardening here in the field, in 4-hour blocks, when it's convenient to you. If you're interested in CSA with us for 2008, here are the details for our farm, and the new 2008 printable sign-up form (or email or call for one to be mailed!). And there's more CSA info in the FAQs.
